Harry’s evolves without sacrificing its own style

…so wrote Burt Lancaster on Leo Vadorini’s scrapbook.
In 1952 Enrico Mariotti was working on his project, the “Boston Bar.” His friend Cipriani persuaded him to use the name “Harry’s Bar,” and from there began the history of one of the most renowned restaurants in Florence, known all over the world also thanks to the skills and friendliness of its Barman Lio Vadorini.
Harry’s Bar Firenze boasts being listed by the Daily Meal as one of the 150 best bars in the world and among the top three in Italy. The great classics, mixed with a sure hand, offered with a touch of originality in presentation.

Dec. 4, 1953.
Enrico Mariotti and Raffaello Sabatini set up Harry’s Bar on Via del Parione in Florence.
Friend Giuseppe Cipriani, patron of the already then famous Harry’s Bar in Venice gives them some suggestions…
Year 1956.
Tersilio Vadorini, known as “Lio” is called by Mariotti: he will be the legendary bartender of the dolce vita years.
February 1963.
Harry’s Bar finds its location on Lungarno Vespucci. The stools, original at the time, still speak today of some famous personalities: the label of Margot Heminguey’s favorite champagne, Liz Taylor’s photo in front of her cocktail, just to name a few. In Los Angeles the exact venue is replicated with every detail of its furnishings.
Year 1972.
Sergio and Roberto sons of Enrico Mariotti turn over Harry’s Bar to the current owners; tradition and style remain unchanged.
Year 2016.
Harry’s Bar is counted among Italy’s historic bars.
